In 2021, the US Mint increased coin production. Last year, the indicator was low due to technological problems and restrictions in connection with the pandemic. Recently, the Mint minted modern versions of the following classic coins in honor of their 100th anniversary: the Morgan Dollar and the Peace Dollar. Then the company presented one of the most popular silver investment coins in the world - the "American Eagle" quality pruff with a new design. The sale of the coin began on August 12, 2021.
Recall that the first issue of the American Eagle series in silver took place in 1986. It was initiated by the US Congress under the Coinage Act. According to this normative document, the main characteristics of the coin are: weight - 31.103 grams, precious metal - silver; sample - 0.999. The obverse of the coins depicts a heraldic eagle, and the reverse shows a white-headed eagle.
The silver Eagle of 2021 was released with an updated reverse design. It was created by designer Emily Damstra and designed by sculptor-engraver Michael Gaudioso, who recently left the Mint.
The reverse depicts a white-headed eagle in flight with fully elongated wings and paws to slow down the descent. The eagle squeezes an oak branch in its claws, which symbolizes longevity and strength. On the rim on the left is the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" (English United States of America), and on the right is the face value of the coin "ONE DOLLAR" (English One Dollar) and "1 OZ. FINE SILVER" (English 1 ounce of pure silver). At the bottom right is engraved the motto of the Great Seal of the USA - "E PLURIBUS UNUM," which means "From the set - unity." A feature of the new reverse design is the wealth of details.
The obverse of the coin was slightly corrected to achieve a greater resemblance to the original design of the half-dollar coin "Walking Freedom," created by Adolf Weinman. In addition, changes were made to strengthen protection against counterfeits.
